Drawing inspiration from his love for cinema, Teeyam's DJ sets are captivating journeys that traverse through zones of brooding psychedelia, techno, electro, breaks, Acid and wave. He has an uncanny ability to weave together unique soundbites and samples, creating a sonic tapestry that captivates audiences and keeps them spellbound on the dancefloor. His sets are not confined to the familiar; instead, they explore the fringes of dance music, pushing the boundaries of sound with an unhinged groove that leaves no foot unshaken.
Teeyam is a first-generation Iranian-American and a recent New York transplant with roots in the vibrant music scene of San Francisco. He is recognized for his life-long dedication to DJing and his exceptional skills as a curator. Before he made his mark on New York, Teeyam established himself as a prominent figure in San Francisco through his immersive party series, "They're Here," which championed diverse, and innovative music and was a pillar of experimental underground nightlife in the city. A residency at Underground SF, the event series featured an impressive lineup of artists including TWINS, Hodge, Josh Cheon, Liquid Asset, Isabella, DJ Speedsick, Solar, C.L.A.W.S, and many more. Simultaneously, he took on the pivotal role of head programmer for the acclaimed MUTEK San Francisco, showcasing cutting-edge electronic artists and groundbreaking performances. Through his tireless efforts and unwavering dedication, Teeyam left an enduring impact on the cultural landscape of San Francisco's electronic music community.
In New York, Teeyam has quickly established himself as an integral figure in the world-class electronic music scene. He is a frequent guest on the illustrious Lot Radio––a testament to his skill and charisma behind the decks. In 2021, Mixmag ranked his contribution to the mix series, Pi Pi Pi, as one of the best mixes of the year calling it a “sweltering and devilish blend of sounds” and “fun as hell rave music”, solidifying his role as a trailblazer in the music industry. In 2022, Teeyam partnered up with the widely acclaimed, John Barera, to produce music together under the alias, Phreakers. The duo infuses jacking techno and house with experimental live instrumentation and captivating vocals. Their unique and singular sound caught the attention of the local SF Label, Left Hand Path, and their first EP “Trash Can” released October 2023 and is played by world class DJ’s around the world. In 2024, Teeyam released a remix of Googoosh Dolls, “Peroseh”, a psychedelic 140+ acid deep techno Stomper that has received early support from DJ Three. In May 2024, Teeyam launched House of Baba, an event series spotlighting SWANA Musicians and DJs focusing on the more experimental dance side of the music spectrum, creating a space for the diaspora to connect through cathartic dance.
