Solar car race

Design, fabricate and test your solar car at DMU Dubai.

Weekly Training and Manufacturing Sessions and Solar Kits shall be provided.

AIM

To build and race a solar powered car. Kits for the vehicles will be provided but modifications within specification limits are allowed. The race will take place on a flat surface with adequate sunlight that spans a length between the start and finish lines. You will be able to understand the concepts of mechanical engineering, electronics, solar energy and sustainability as well as design efficiencies and its application by participating this event.

Specifications for the racer (excluding the transmitter & power cells): Kits shall be provided by De Montfort University

• A maximum width of 130 mm

• A maximum length: 180 mm

• Height should not exceed 70 mm

• The maximum permitted weight of the racer is 110 g.

Rules and regulations

• Design of car is strictly adhered to the specification given. • No external power supplies (cells/batteries) except solar power are allowed. • Criteria solely based on the top three finishes and their timings. • Judgment of the panel members shall be final.

Training and Manufacturing:

Students can book Training and Build sessions at the DMU Dubai campus. In these sessions, students shall learn the concepts of Mechanical Engineering to assemble the cars and ideas to make it run faster!
