About this Event
Join Solano HEALs for An Afternoon of Healing, Hope & Change as we celebrate the newest graduates of the Solano HEALs Centering the Doula Program and host a special FREE community screening of the acclaimed documentary The Ebony Canal.
Narrated by Academy Award winner Viola Davis, The Ebony Canal is a poignant, award-winning documentary film that delves into the disparities of infant mortality and maternal health among Black and Brown women, weaving together powerful stories of healing and hope to inspire solution-driven practices that transform the future of maternal care.
This event honors the important work doulas do to support Black families through culturally affirming care, advocacy, education, and community connection. Our graduates represent the next generation of leaders helping improve birth outcomes and reduce maternal health disparities in our communities.
Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a live interactive Q&A with director Emmai Alaquiva.
