About this Event
Join us for dinner and a lecture at the St. James Club of Montreal with Periodontist Dr. Karim El Kholy.
Lecture Summary:
Management of gingival recession defects using root coverage procedures is an integral part of periodontal regenerative therapy.
While many materials and techniques have been suggested, the combination of a connective tissue graft and a coronally advanced flap remains widely accepted as the gold standard for root coverage procedures. However, gingival recessions are often not isolated defects; most patients present with multiple gingival recessions, frequently combined with interproximal tissue loss.
Given the limited supply, morbidity, and postoperative pain associated with harvesting autogenous subepithelial connective tissue, numerous attempts have been made to identify comparable allogenic or xenogeneic substitutes.
This lecture reviews the current status of root coverage procedures and presents a novel, minimally invasive surgical approach using a combination of collagen matrices and autogenous tissue to maximize clinical results.
After this presentation course attendees will:
1. Understand the evolution of Soft Tissue grafting for root coverage.
2. Review the current-status and gold standard approaches.
3. Reframing the root recession problem using design thinking approaches.
4. Understand the advantages of synergistic use of different soft tissue grafting materials.
