Introduction to traditional Sashiko stitching techniques.
About this Event

Learn the foundations of sashiko, a traditional Japanese hand-stitching technique rooted in mending, durability, and the belief that good clothing gets better with wear and repair. In this beginner-friendly workshop, we'll explore the history of sashiko before learning the foundational stitches and patterns that have been passed down for generations.

Together we'll create three stitched sample swatches, each highlighting a different sashiko technique, then you'll put your impressive new skills into practice by making a small repair or embellishment on a garment you bring from home.

Your ticket includes a take-home sashiko swatch booklet, a traditional sashiko needle, and specialty sashiko thread—everything you need to keep stitching once you get home.

No sewing experience is necessary—all skill levels are welcome.
