Soft ScienceNorthern California–based Soft Science blend dream pop, power pop, and darkwave textures into music that’s both lush and propulsive. Praised as “deeply invested [and] honest in their approach to find something new” (The Chicagoist), the band has long been recognized for pairing emotional immediacy with shimmering melodies and driving rhythms.
Formed in 2009 by Katie Haley and brothers Ross and Matt Levine, and later joined by Tony and Becky Cale and Hans Munz, Soft Science build immersive soundscapes from alluring vocals, dual 12-string guitars, synths, and electronics—“a sound built to outlast trends” (Chicago Tribune). Their live performances are dynamic and enveloping, combining shimmering melodies with darker, noisier edges.
The band has released four LPs, most recently Lines (2023), and has appeared at New York Popfest, Paris Popfest, KEXP Live, PartTime Punks, and festivals across the U.S. and Europe. Their forthcoming album Sand continues their evolution, exploring impermanence, connection, and resilience through richly textured, emotionally charged songs.
The Autocollants
Upon the 1996 release of their first EP, “Tennis Racket,” the southern California quartet known as The Autocollants brought on a simple, unpretentious style of bedroom indiepop. Over the next couple of years, Ed, Laura, Tim, and Dwayne wrote songs from the heart, recorded in a (literal) bedroom studio, and played a handful of shows around the west coast of the US. Their trademark breezy, relaxed sound continued into the band’s debut album “Why Couldn’t Things Just Stay The Same?” which was released in 1999. Shortly after the album’s release, life circumstances led to the band members in separate directions
In 2025, the band reconnected after gaining some interest from a new generation of indiepopfans and decided to reform and play some select shows in LA. Fast forwarding to 2026, the Autocollants are now actively working on new music and will be touring the west coast in June.
Rob & Jay
Rob and Jay are an indie pop outfit birthed from the capitalist hellscape of Nashville, where they grew up obsessing over the Beatles 1 compilation disc. They have played in bands together from middle school up until their first duo project, 2020’s electro-tinged pop LP, “At Home With Rob and Jay.” In 2022 they followed up with a back-to-basics guitar pop LP, “With Love from Rob and Jay” co-released with Shelflife Records.
