For Signal Festival this year, we’re delighted to be screening Wes Anderson’s tale of New England exploration and budding love, Moonrise Kingdom.

On an island off the coast of New England, two twelve year olds meet and fall in love. Destined to be happy and in love for the rest of their lives, the two make a secret pact to run away into the New England wilderness together. Sparking outrage from their respective families, local authorities set out to find the two and bring them home.

Starring an ensemble cast featuring Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman and many more, Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom offers a cozy glimpse of a quiet island, suffering from its own personal quarrels and conflicts that bubble under its idyllic surface.
