About this Event

SITC host Eric Metaxas is thrilled to announce an exclusive Socrates in the City Bonhoeffer Retreat.

This October 1st through 4th, join Socrates in the City on a retreat in New York City, where history, faith, and urban exploration converge. Our host is none other than Eric Metaxas, whose best-selling book, Bonhoeffer, has sold over 1 million copies. This specially curated experience invites you to walk in the footsteps of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the renowned German theologian and martyr, during his transformative time in the city from 1930 to 1931. The tour will focus on places Bonhoeffer visited during his time in NYC just before his return to Nazi Germany where he would later be imprisoned and sentenced to death.

This retreat offers a rare opportunity to explore the intersections of faith, culture, and history in one of the world’s most dynamic cities, all through the lens of a remarkable figure who left an indelible mark on the 20th century.

Guests will be among the first to see the new Bonhoeffer movie, and enjoy an intimate Q&A following the screening with Eric Metaxas.

As part of the retreat, you will join SITC for our exclusive, invitation-only Patrons Dinner on October 3rd, hosted at the Union League Club. Featuring fine food and drink, some special guests, and a short presentation from Eric Metaxas, we will celebrate the past year of Socrates in the City and unveil our exciting vision and plans for the upcoming year. Our interviewee for this year will be George Gilder, an American investor, author, economist, and co-founder of the Discovery Institute.

The total cost of the retreat is $5,000 per person. This includes overnight accommodations at The Union League Club, meals, private tours, and a screening of Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Spy, Assassin. Price of admission does not include airfare or transportation to New York City. To secure your spot, a deposit of $1,000 is required. This deposit ensures your reservation with the remaining balance of $4,000 due by Sept 15th.

Given the high level of interest and due to limited availability, we encourage you to sign up at your earliest convenience. If you’re registering for two individuals, please remember to submit two separate deposits to secure both spots.
