Get ready for an exciting STEM adventure at The University of Utah! The Society of Women Engineers and the American Society of Biomechanics are teaming up to bring you America's Next Top Engineer, a thrilling event where Girl Scouts will work together to conquer four exciting and creative challenges.
In Candy Drop, Girl Scouts will use their engineering skills to create a protective landing strategy for a delicate piece of candy. In Mountain Search and Rescue, they’ll put their problem-solving abilities to the test by designing tools to help Ski Patrol find lost skiers. Humans Vs. Robots will challenge them to control a computerized system and instruct a robot to navigate its way through an obstacle course. Finally, in Muscle Up, troops will get to flex their engineering muscles by building a model of a prosthetic arm and compete for who can lift the most weight!
But that's not all! Every member of each team will receive a prize based on their team's performance in each challenge. Plus, everyone gets a snazzy t-shirt and a tasty treat when checking out from the event.
Adults, don't worry, we've got you covered too! While the Girl Scouts are out creating, you can lounge in the parent room and learn more about STEM and the Society of Women Engineers. Even if you don't have a Girl Scout attending the event, you're welcome to come and participate in a small presentation about how you can get your troops more involved in STEM. Plus, you'll get to learn an engineering activity to take home to your kids and enjoy some tasty refreshments.

COVID requirements at the time of event will be in place. Girl Scouts do not need to attend with an adult, but adults must register to attend. Non-member siblings in grades 4-12 may attend, and must register as "girl non-members." No tagalongs, including infants, toddlers, siblings grades PreK-3, and unregistered adults may not attend. No onsite registration, preregistration is required. Program fees (less the deposit) may be refunded before the program registration deadline (4/9/23). Cancellations after the program registration deadline (4/9/23) will forfeit the full amount of the fee for each person registered.
