Social media is not new. The platforms are not new. The profession is not new. Social media marketers have spent years building audiences, driving culture, managing crises, and generating real revenue for their companies. Through algorithm changes, platform blow-ups, and budget cuts.

And yet. A lot of social media professionals are still walking into meetings justifying why their work matters to people who think the job is posting on Instagram.

Social media in 2026 is where your customers tell you what they think, what they want, what they are about to do next, and where your competitors are falling short. It is business intelligence. It is reputation management. It is the closest thing most companies have to a live read on the market. The professionals who can connect that to the business are the ones getting listened to. SocialDay NYC Forum is a focused, high-energy day built around one question: how do social media professionals get the recognition, the budget, and the influence their work deserves?

The data your company needs to understand its customers, fix its products, and stay ahead of competitors is already sitting in your feed. How the best social teams are using that information to get into bigger conversations, and how AI tools are helping them move faster.

Search is not what you think it is

People are not searching the way they used to. They search with problems, not keywords. They use 3.6 platforms over up to 10 weeks before they buy anything. And AI tools are changing where they go to find answers and which brands they find when they get there. How to build a content strategy that works across all of it.

Five people, two minutes each. Share a real challenge or idea you are sitting with and the room responds. Prompt cards on every table to get things going. Submit your problem in advance or raise your hand on the day. Drinks and snacks on tables.

The sameness problem

Most social content is built to perform and forgotten within 72 hours. Now that AI tools have made it easier than ever to produce content at volume, a lot of it sounds exactly the same. This session is about what it actually takes to build a voice people recognize, formats that work more than once, and content people remember.

Real people, real voices, real stories. Employee content, founder content, advocacy programs.
