Social Skills Group

The group is designated for children in kindergarten to 4th grade (in different groups divided by age). Each group is small and intimate, consisting of 5-6 children, which allows for a personalized and focused approach. The primary goal is to assist children with emotional and social difficulties in navigating daily situations by helping them gain social skills and practice effective communication and emotional expression.

During the group meetings, through play, art, and interaction, the children will learn more about themselves, learn to recognize emotions and personal strengths and weaknesses, learn practical ways to regulate their emotions, learn about empathy and kindness, broaden their emotional range, and practice different interpretations of varied social situations.

Two clinical social workers from the JFCS Israeli Department will lead the group. The group leaders have extensive experience working with children of varied ages and difficulties.

The group will meet every Tuesday for seven weeks starting October 8th, 2024, at Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School in Palo Alto.

Younger group (K - 2nd grade) - 3:30 pm

Older group (3rd - 4th grade) - 4:30 pm
