These are group skills sessions where we cover racing skills and how to conduct yourself in a safe and effective manner. By the end of these workshops you should be more comfortable riding in groups, though they teach fundamental race skills. All ages and ability levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. These sessions are run by the GS Andiamo coaching staff and USACycling Certified Skills Instructors.Schedule: Each day has a distinct theme.
June 23 - Get Ready to Race
June 30 - Cornering
July 7 - Advanced Cornering
July 14 - How to Read a Race I
July 21 - How to Read a Race II
July 28 - Sprinting
Aug 4 - Putting it all together
Upgrade points: Category 4 riders can earn up to 5 points (1 point per day) a Category 3 riders can earn up to 3 points. We will be teaching advanced curriculum for previous program graduates. See the USACycling and SCNCA websites for more details on upgrades.Notes: Training events only, with no placing recorded. We may split fields or neutralized for safety reasons. Events may be stopped for emergency vehicles. Each event will feature coached competition clinics, pre race meetings, mentored events, and post event discussions. Registration and attendance to the competition clinic gains entry to the mentored events. “A” riders may also participate in the “B” event with coach approval.
Onsite registration will open at 5:50 PM with the event starting at 6:00 PM. Each day will be broken into three portions, with foundation skills being taught first and then followed by the two race skills sessions along with mock events that will improve your cycling confidence and skill. We will wrap up everything by 2:00 PM. Bring along snacks. Water and hydration mix will be available depending on current regulations.
