In anticipation of The One Love Caribbean Music Fest, coming back August 2023, we are taking over @imsoyoganewark Studio before the FEST to gather the community, learn some dance moves, and have a good time.
OLMF invites you to join us for a series of evening of Soca Fit during Summer and Fall 2022.
What is SOCA FIT?
A creative and fun dance-fitness series that uses the full range of Soca music and unique moves from the Caribbean diaspora.
In Newark, NJ from 8:00PM - 9:00PM.
We have bundle packages available. Pay once and select any classes you would like to join through out the Summer and Fall.
Classes are instructed by 'Beatrice' from Soca Tworkout Fitness Team.
Beatrice (a.k.a Bea) is a NJ native of Haitian ancestry whose love and enthusiasm for dance and culture presented itself at a young age. Her earliest memories was of her making up dances with her cousins to perform at family events. Beatrice’s dance journey formally began in high school with the Multipot Dance Company of Irvington High School. There, she was exposed to West African Dance and a variety of dances from the African Diaspora (Soca, Haitian Folklore, Swing, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and etc.) For 3 years, she was able to train with choreographers who nurtured her love for dance. Beatrice went on to dance with the West Indian Student Organization (WISO) Dance Troupe at Rutgers University for 4 years. It was through WISO that she began to lead and choreograph. In 2013, Beatrice began studying Haitian Folkloric Dance under Peniel Guerrier and was presented with opportunities to perform with renowned musical artists and to train internationally. Throughout the years, her appreciation for dances of the African Diaspora and how it is represented has deepened. It is Beatrice’s desire to not only use dance as a means to facilitate fitness goals, but also to share that love and positive energy with Soca Tworkout Fitness Divas.
