In 1984, well before the explosion of extended instrumental concerts, an improvisational band playing original music named Indecision emerged out of Charlottesville, Virginia. Drawing from a wide variety of influences, including The Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, The Band, Steely Dan, and Little Feat, as well as the more complex rhythmic and harmonic structure of many jazz artists, Indecision forged a unique sound in the relatively new movement of improvisational music known today as the jam band scene.
Stanley Jordan burst onto the music scene nearly 40 years ago as a pioneering master of two-hand tapping, creating a rich, multi-layered guitar sound that feels like several players at once. A Blue Note icon with deep roots in jazz, rock, and classical music, he’s collaborated with legends from Dizzy Gillespie to Miles Davis and today is a fixture in the jam band scene having appeared with Phil Lesh and Friends and sitting in with acts like Dave Matthews Band, moe., and Umphrey’s McGee. He also has made memorable appearances on Johnny Carson to Jimmy Fallon.
