Join Curator of History Zach Zacharias on his Soapbox in Root Hall as we step into the past and bear witness to a little-known but crucial part of Florida's history with "Florida On Fire: The Fire in the Sky," a riveting presentation that sheds light on the devastating urban fires that plagued the state in the 19th and early 20th centuries. From the Great Jacksonville Fire of 1901, the nation's third-largest urban fire in history, to the fires that ravaged Ocala, Deland, St. Augustine, Key West, and other cities, these disasters left a lasting impact on Florida's landscape and its people.Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, as space is limited.
