Have you ever wondered how to make soap from scratch? Well, now is your chance to learn about cold-pressed soap! This 90-minute class will start with a demonstration of making a soap base using various oils and goat milk, as well as discussing the challenges and safety precautions required when using sodium hydroxide for saponification. The soap base will then be divvied up and students will be able to color and scent their batch to make their very own personalized bars of soap. You will be sent home with three bars of your very own as well as instructions on how to cure it. Cold processed soap requires three to four weeks to cure, so please be sure you have a place with good airflow for it to rest for that time before using. This class does involve the use of sodium hydroxide which is caustic, so attendees under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. $30 per person. Register at www.craftopiawa.com
