About this Event
Beyond terrified beginners, this workshop is for open mic level comedians and above who are looking to up-skill and take their comedy to the next level.
Perth's own award-winning comedian Gavin Baskerville (a MICF Moosehead Award recipient) has been teaching stand-up comedy - mainly on the eastern seaboard - for more than a decade - to everyone from corporate groups and curious individuals to students of the craft who may or may not be stand-up stars on the rise.
Gav's 2+ decades of experience as a comedy writer, performer and club manager (Jokers, Hobart) is condensed into 2 hours designed to inspire, motivate and challenge; from the fundamentals of comedy - focussing on joke-writing and creating routines - to techniques for elevating your performance and crowd work, whether for short sets or hosting.
It will include learning about how professional comedians 'do what they do', turning your life experiences into comedy routines, and ways of progressing your comedy career.
"When I first started comedy (Gav) really helped me out. 100% recommend ★★★★★" - Cam McLaren (Winner, 'Doustie' WA Comedian of the Year and FRINGE WORLD Best Comedy WA 2017)
Recommended for ages 18+. Duration: 120 minutes + 15min break mid-session.
Limited places available. Bookings essential.
Workshop includes course notes and complimentary ticket to The Laugh Resort Comedy Club's 33rd Birthday Show, 18 September.
