About this Event
TV told us grief lasts five stages. Movies showed us it ends when the music swells. Social media says we should be over it by now. But if you've ever sat with a real loss — especially one that came through violence — you know the screen doesn't tell the whole story.
This workshop takes a critical, honest, and sometimes lively look at how grief is portrayed in television and film. We'll examine the images that have shaped what we think grief is supposed to look like — and what gets left out when those images center only certain kinds of loss and certain kinds of people. Together, we'll unpack the harmful myths and name the portrayals that actually get it right.
Come ready to watch, reflect, and talk back to the screen. Open to adults 18+. Space is limited — registration required.
