The holidays alight in downtown Elko for the popular Downtown Business Association (DBA)-sponsored event, Snowflake Festival! This annual celebration infuses the heart of downtown with the holiday spirit, brightening up the parking corridor between Railroad and Commercial Streets, from 4th to 6th Streets.
Free to attend, the Snowflake Festival is downtown’s way of giving back to Elko and the surrounding communities, and it provides an opportunity for the community to experience downtown in a family-friendly, festive atmosphere.
While at Snowflake Festival, you can find your inner artist at the free crafting tent sponsored by Elko County Art Club and Elko Swim Team, consult with the Cheeky Doodles Face-Painting Pro and become a magical fairy or maybe a reindeer, play a round of Caddy Shack Mini Golf, and enjoy fun games that can be found throughout the festival. Eat yummy food and shop till you drop; make sure to leave room for a piping hot cup of nice or naughty cocoa—served by the Elves at Lostra Inc. Their team is donating their time and their awesome event trailer ‘Whiskey Wagon' to make the day even sweeter. The handsome fella, Stone Rock will be there with music, welcoming local performers to the stage where they will sing it out and strut their stuff for all to enjoy.
Introducing a delightful new addition for 2024—the Stocking Stuffer Stroll! For just $5, you can snag a charming stocking along with a treasure map guiding you to downtown businesses where delightful goodies await to fill your stocking and make your holiday wishes come true! Join us for this merry adventure from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., but remember, sales close at 3:30 p.m. Another exciting update: you can now pre-purchase your stockings online and conveniently pick them up at will call located at the DBA tent.
As the sun sets on the Festival, get ready for the enchanting "Gingerbread" Parade of Lights! This vibrant spectacle will kick off at Commercial and 6th Street and follow the City of Elko’s parade route. Joining forces to bring you the magic of the evening are Chip mStone from Stone Rock and the charming and ever-energetic Lori Gilbert from Elko Broadcasting Company. Together, they'll sprinkle their charisma and cheer as they announce the festivities. Who will rise to the occasion and outshine last year’s reigning champions, Northern Nevada Equipment? Get ready to witness the clash of creativity as floats sparkle and dazzle, vying for the title of ultimate gingerbread festive, super-lighted float royalty!
