Join us for a hands-on introduction to houseplant propagation where we’re going way beyond sticking a stem in water and hoping for the best.
We’ll work with SIX popular houseplants:
🌿 Monstera deliciosa
🌿 Pothos
🌿 Syngonium
🌿 Trailing Philodendron
🌿 Hoya
🌿 Tradescantia
You’ll learn how to identify nodes, growth points and aerial roots, where to make your cuts, what actually needs to be submerged in water, and why the right cutting makes all the difference.
But getting roots is only half the story!
We’ll also talk about:
✂️ Where to cut on several different types of houseplants
🌱 Single-node vs. multi-node cuttings
💧 Water propagation and other popular propagation methods
☀️ Light, water and conditions for successful rooting
🫠 Why some cuttings rot, fail or seemingly do absolutely nothing
🪴 How to know when your cutting is actually ready to be potted
🌿 Choosing the right pot and potting material for newly rooted plants
💦 Why healthy water propagations sometimes struggle after moving to potting mix — and how to make that transition successfully
🌱 How to care for your newly potted propagation while it establishes
✂️ How to use multiple cuttings to create a fuller plant
And we’ll practice identifying where you would make the cut on some other common houseplants, so you can go home feeling confident enough to start propagating your own collection.
