About this Event

Join us as we welcome Milwaukee Film's Artistic Director Dr. Cara Ogburn as she presents an overview, shares film trailers, and gives a sneak peek into the renowned 2025 Milwaukee Film Festival. Learn about the various film offerings, film programs and events, and how to best navigate the 17th Annual Milwaukee Film Festival, April 24 - May 8. Meet Milwaukee Film's newly-appointed Executive Director Dr. Susan Kerns and hear from Membership & Giving Director Kristopher Pollard, who will join to discuss the various and exciting ways to get involved with Milwaukee Film throughout the year. Here's some background on our speakers:

After two seasonal stints with the festival, Dr. Cara Ogburn joined Milwaukee Film’s full-time staff in 2013, overseeing the organization’s education efforts. Since then her role has expanded and in 2020 she was named Artistic Director, currently overseeing all film programming for both cinemas and festivals as well as our intrepid marketing team. Cara is deeply engaged with our exhibition sector nationally and is the immediate past president of the Board of Directors of the Film Festival Alliance.

Dr. Susan Kerns returns to Milwaukee Film as the Executive Director after spending over a dozen years as a film professor at Columbia College Chicago. She is an author, filmmaker, and intimacy coordinator whose most recent publications include the book ReFocus: The Films of Susan Seidelman, the first volume devoted to the groundbreaking director, and writing on Tank Girl for Eureka!’s limited-edition Blu-ray box set.

Kristopher Pollard is the Membership & Giving Director at Milwaukee Film where he has worked for the past 13 years. He also represents the organization weekly on his Flick Picks segments on WISN12, as well as the Radio Milwaukee podcast Cinebuds with co-host Dori Zori. His passion for film is only equalled by his love for books and his family (wife - Nicole; dog - Grandpa Joe; cat - Pizza Box).
