Snazzback’s seven-sided dance dynamism folds together UK jazz and broken beats with dub flourishes. Their hybrid sound has captured imaginations as far and wide as Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie Scott’s London and beyond. This tour sees the collective delve deeper into their love of UK dance music. They take threads from the driving dubstep sounds of DMZ and breaks inspired by the sounds of Source Direct and explore them with a joyous freedom that leans more on the likes of Miles Davis and the late Pharaoh Sanders. Jazz, beats, bass, global grooves and more....
In November 2024, they dropped their new EP "Within & Without" on Worm Discs, which explores themes of conflict, both within and without. They're touring UK wide to promote it, including this Leeds show, their first time back in the city for 18 months. Great to welcome them to Hyde Park Book Club for their first ever show there.
Support comes from Leeds' little giant of the tenor sax, Asher Freeman. He's been prominent on the local jazz scene the last 3 years whilst studying at Leeds Conservatoire. Most recently heard on the two singles by breakbeat jazz band Nova.Sol and he featured heavily at their Hyde Park Book Club show in October. Tonight he leads his own fusion jazz ensemble playing his original compositions. Definitely one to watch for in 2025.
