SMS Teen: Movie Night Under the Stars

This month, SMS Teen is looking up with a Movie Night Under the Stars!

Teens ages 12–17 are invited! Bring a blanket, snacks, and your friends.

Teens will:

• Enjoy a movie under the stars. Bring a blanket and get cozy!
• Connect with new friends and spend time with familiar faces
• Enjoy dinner and popcorn in a welcoming environment
• Have a chance to win one of three prizes

Three prizes are up for grabs! One lucky teen will win a $100 Amazon gift card, and two teens will win a $25 restaurant gift card.

Teens can earn raffle entries by:

• Bringing teen friends, with one entry for each friend. No limit!
• Returning to SMS Teen
• Demonstrating leadership behaviors

The raffle winner will be announced at the event. No purchase necessary.

• Dinner will be provided.
• Adult staff will be on-site throughout the event.
• A safe, welcoming environment where every teen belongs.
• A fun night off for parents and guardians.

SMS Teen is a monthly program created by Single Mom Strong with one group in mind: your teens.

As our children grow, their needs shift. They’re navigating more independence, more pressure, and more questions about who they are and where they’re headed. We’ve heard from many of you that there aren’t enough safe spaces where teens can show up, feel comfortable, and connect in a positive environment. That’s why we launched SMS Teen.

This isn’t a night of lecturing or something that feels like an after-school program. It’s a practical, welcoming space where teens can connect, relax, and be themselves.

Teens will have the opportunity to:

• Connect with peers who understand their experiences, or reconnect with friends they know through Single Mom Strong or EmpowerME
• Relax and have fun in a safe, structured environment
• Build confidence and a sense of belonging
• Share their voice and help shape what comes next

NOTE: This program is presented in partnership with the City of Sacramento, #SactownYouthNights. While created by Single Mom Strong, youth of all family types between age 12 and 17 are welcome.

SMS Teen is a monthly opportunity, with rideshare and carpool options planned for future events. Most importantly, your teen will be in a space designed with intention, where they are seen, respected, and part of a growing community.

This is just the beginning. SMS Teen will continue to grow with input from the teens themselves, so it reflects what they actually need and want.
