Dear BBQ Pit Boss,It’s time to turn up the heat this spring and smoke the competition like never before. You’re officially invited to throw your tongs in the ring at Smokin’ in the Valley – WA’s tastiest showdown, sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS).
Date: Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 2025
Location: Swan Settlers Market – 124 Lennard Street, Herne Hill
Whether you're a seasoned smoker or a backyard boss, this is where the best pitmasters come to meat their match. The coals are hot, the competition fierce, and the prizes juicy. Sharpen those knives, fire up the smokers, and get ready to rub shoulders and ribs with Perth’s BBQ elite.
Why you should get your grill on:
Compete under official KCBS rules and have your BBQ mastery judged by certified pros.
Win sizzling prizes, including $1000 for Grand Champion and cash for top category winners.
Score big and you could find yourself smokin’ it up at the American Royal or the legendary Jack Daniel’s Invitational.

Team Details:
Team fee: $300
Minimum 50 Tips for Treats portions required per team to support fundraising
Each team gets a 6x4m site (self-contained setup encouraged – BYO generator if possible)
Water top-up stations are available
Set up from 7:00 AM Saturday (or Friday afternoon by prior arrangement)
Market hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM both days
Team presentations: Sunday, 2:00 PM onwards

Chicken turn-in: 12:00 PM
Pork ribs turn-in: 12:30 PM
Pork turn-in: 1:00 PM
Brisket turn-in: 1:30 PM
Tips for Treats: 2:00 PM
Presentations: 3:30 PM

Grand Champion: $1000
Reserve Grand Champion: $500
1st in each category: $350
2nd in each category: $150
3rd in each category: Trophy and major bragging rights
