EG KIGHT BIO
singer. songwriter. guitar player. entertainer. storyteller. photographer. author.
A preeminent voice in roots music, EG KIGHT has performed on stages around the globe, from Italy to Germany and the Netherlands, to Mexico and Japan. And here in the U.S. she’s performed coast to coast, from the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN to the Monterey Bay Jazz and Blues Festival in CA to the Chenango Blues Festival in NY, the Cox Capitol Theatre in GA to the Griswold Auditorium in MI to the Strand Theater in PA, and many more. Kight is at home on any stage.
With her rich vocals, captivating guitar style, and hefty catalog of well-crafted original songs, she has entertained audiences in true southern style, and has garnered 21 music industry nominations, including 3 for “Song of the Year”. An indisputable triple threat – as singer, songwriter, and guitar player – her own unique blend of “country flavored southern fried blues” appeals to fans across the genres. Kight’s original songs have been recorded by several major blues artists, some have aired on five major TV networks and in film. Her 2023 “Sticks & Strings” album debuted at #10 on the Billboard Blues Chart and was nominated for THREE awards for Acoustic Album from various industry organizations. Kight was honored in 2025 to help induct Blind Willie Johnson into the Blues Hall of Fame. Johnson’s music was recorded in the late 1920’s and is still relevant today. Kight said in her speech –
“We don’t know what music will sound like 100 years from now. But we can hope that the music we make today will carry the same soul, the same weight, the same lasting power, and that we can continue spreading the gospel of the blues. Like he did…”. A seasoned veteran of the road, Kight has no plans to slow down. She’s writing and recording more new songs and performing more live shows, taking her roots music to the fans. No matter the city or the venue, wherever she’s making music, she’s at home. It’s what she does. It’s what she loves…
“She’s as classy, sassy, confident and credible as they come. Kight provides new hues for the blues while ensuring they remain compelling and engaging all at the same time.” – American Songwriter Magazine
“…a cross between Bonnie Raitt’s bourbon stung growl and Phoebe Snow’s emotive warble.” – CityBeat Cincinnati
“Her storytelling skills and down home southern humor add warmth to already spirited live performances.”– Creative Loafing
Each voyage will also have full bar and limited food menu available onboard to buy.
This year the Tennessee Riverboat Company has some changes in ticket pricing. Every cruise ticket (no matter what type) has a “port fee” of $1.50. In addition, if you buy your ticket online, there is an online fee of $2.10. The fee of $2.10 is not charged for buying tickets over the phone with a credit card or in person (credit card or cash). As usual, sales tax is applied. Be advised that weather or boat mechanical conditions could lead the Captain of the boat to order that the boat not go out on the river, and so the show will take place at the dock.
We want you to be informed of these incidental changes.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the water enjoying our Blues Cruises.
