About this Event
After a successful first workshop and beautiful feedback from participants, I’m excited to open a second summer session focused on helping homeowners confidently move forward with their yards this season.
June is one of the best times to plant and upgrade your yard in Durango — but it’s also when many homeowners get overwhelmed at the nursery and end up wasting money on plants, layouts, or ideas that don’t actually work long-term.
Most people want a beautiful, low-water yard — they just don’t know how to approach it in a clear, structured way.
At the same time, fire mitigation expectations are getting stricter, and many existing landscapes no longer meet current recommendations.
This workshop is designed to help you slow down, understand your space properly, and make smarter decisions before investing more money this season.
Before you spend more money this season,
make sure you’re making the right decisions.
This is a practical, hands-on workshop.
Bring a few photos of your yard and I’ll guide you step-by-step through:
→ understanding your space
→ selecting the right plants
→ organizing ideas into a cohesive plan
→ generating realistic visualizations using AI
No design experience needed.
No tech skills needed.
What you’ll learn
• Which plants actually survive Durango’s dry, high-desert climate
• How to design a fire-smart, low-water yard that meets current expectations
• How to think about your yard in a clear, structured way (like a designer)
• How to use GPT to turn a photo of your yard into a realistic design with the right plants, layout, and style
What you’ll walk away with
• A clear approach (not random ideas)
• A plant list that actually works here
• A simple design method you can reuse
• A ready-to-use GPT prompt
• Confidence to move forward this season
You may not leave with a finished design —
but you will leave knowing exactly what to do next.
