🎬 It is our pleasure to announce ‘Small Things Like These’ by Tim Mielants as the Official Opening Film of the 51th edition of Film Fest Gent kicking off the international film festival on Wednesday 9 October! 🌟
Tim Mielants, known for his work on ‘Peaky Blinders’ and acclaimed films like ‘Patrick’ and ‘WIL’, brings this powerful narrative to life, with Belgian talents Frank van den Eeden and Alain Dessauvage.
Adapted from Claire Keegan’s novel, the story unfolds in a small Irish town in the 1980s, with Cillian Murphy portraying Bill Furlong, a coal merchant who uncovers shocking secrets about the local convent. This movie sheds light on the harrowing history of Ireland’s Magdalene laundries.
🎞️ ‘Small Things Like These’ is a production by Murphy and Alan Moloney via Big Things Films together with Catherine Magee. Matt Damon and Drew Vinton are the producers for Artists Equity.
