Small Talk is being built differently.
Presented by Railz Hospitality, Small Talk is a free curated networking social bringing together Houston’s hospitality professionals, event planners, entrepreneurs, creatives, content creators, brand representatives and other people actively building something around the city.
Some people are growing businesses. Some are launching events. Some are looking for clients or collaborators. Others are new to Houston, changing careers, developing an idea or simply trying to get around more people who are building too.
You never really know which conversation is going to move something forward.
So if you make the effort to show up, we’re going to make the effort to help you meet people.

This edition of Small Talk takes place September 30 at City Cellars, where we’ll be combining intentional networking with another part of the Railz ecosystem.

During Small Talk, you’ll be able to network throughout City Cellars, grab food and drinks, discover Cocktails Unknown and experience a limited featured cocktail menu created by one of the talented beverage professionals coming through our community.
Then we’re keeping the night going.
Around 8 PM, Small Talk transitions from structured professional networking into a more social environment with music, cocktails and open conversation.
Come network after work. Stay for a drink afterward.
GUARANTEED INTRODUCTIONS, NOT JUST A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE
We’re not expecting you to walk into a room full of strangers and figure everything out yourself.
Small Talk incorporates, an interactive networking platform designed to turn rooms of strangers into actual one-on-one conversations.
There’s no app to download and no account setup required. Scan a QR code, enter some basic information and participate directly from your phone.
Throughout the evening, Reuneo will facilitate structured introductions between attendees, helping you meet people outside of the groups and cliques that naturally form at networking events.
That means you can come alone.
You don’t need to already know someone in the room.
And even if you do, we’ll give you a reason to step outside your existing circle.
We can’t guarantee what every introduction becomes.

When you RSVP, we’ll ask a few questions about who you are, what you’re currently working on and the kinds of people you’d like to meet.
And when you arrive, come ready to talk about it.
What are you building?
What challenge are you trying to solve?
What kind of opportunity are you looking for?
Who would be valuable for you to meet?
And just as importantly:
What can you bring to somebody else’s project?
Sometimes networking produces a client.
Sometimes it produces a collaborator.
Sometimes somebody challenges your idea, introduces you to another person or gives you a perspective you hadn’t considered.

Cocktails Unknown will also be open, featuring our Craft Clash Champion behind the bar and a limited menu showcasing their creative perspective.

The structured networking winds down and the night becomes more social.
Music goes up. Conversations continue. Grab another cocktail, reconnect with someone you met earlier or finally introduce yourself to the person you didn’t get a chance to meet.
There’s no need to rush out at 8.
WHY WE CREATED SMALL TALK
We’ve been developing Small Talk for almost a year around a simple belief:
People building things need places to find each other.
A lot of entrepreneurs, creatives and hospitality professionals spend enormous amounts of time working in isolation.
Small Talk gives those people somewhere to periodically get out from behind the laptop, bar, camera, kitchen, office or business and talk to somebody working through their own version of the same journey.
We’re now starting to see people who met through these rooms collaborate, exchange services, develop projects and stay connected beyond the event.
That’s what we want more of.
WHY RAILZ NETWORK?
Railz Network is the community and opportunity ecosystem connecting people across Railz Hospitality, SpeedRailz, Craft Clash and our growing collection of events, media projects, educational resources and industry collaborations.
We use events like Small Talk to bring that digital ecosystem into the real world.
Then we use the network to keep those conversations going after everyone goes home.
