Small Tales Academy presents 'STORIES COME ALIVE'

WORKSHOP DETAILS & OVERVIEW :

Through the power of drama and by incorporating the principles of differentiated and trans-disciplinary learning, we at the Small Tales Academy, specialise in using theatre exercises to help our students become confident communicators. Their participation will not only transcend into personal development and help them to create collaborate and devise performances together but it is also a unique opportunity to understand and appreciate different perspectives and actively shape the world we live in.

This is also an introductory workshop to our year-long Drama based course - the YOUNG THESPIANS THEATRE PROGRAMME which has been running successfully at schools across Mumbai.

This workshop will give them an opportunity to

• Communicate thoughts and feelings
• Actively participate and contribute to the task at hand
• Develop verbal proficiency
• Use imagination and creativity
• Enhance listening skills
• Explore different performance techniques

About the Instructor:

Priyanka Babbar has been an educator for more than fifteen years and is one of the most sought-after storytelling and drama teachers in the country. She has successfully completed the International Summer School Program in Physical Theatre from London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA, Berlin) in 2017 and is a Certified Drama Facilitator & IB educator.

She is the Founder & Artistic Director of the Small Tales Academy, and has conducted over five hundred storytelling and workshop sessions across the world for various schools & organisations, some of them being The American School of Bombay, Aditya Birla World Academy, Mt. Litera School International, Salaam Bombay Foundation, NCPA, Teamwork Arts, Tech Mahindra, Qualcomm, CRED Club, KPMG India, Isha Foundation & Stamford American School (Singapore) .

She conducts teacher-training programmes across the country & has trained over two hundred teachers in ‘The Art of Storytelling’ & ‘Using Drama for Learning’ in Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh and Bangalore. She specialises in incorporating storytelling & theatre-based practices for curriculum design for schools, to make learning experiential & lifelong for the learners. She has recently designed and facilitates the Dramatic Storytelling course for the online extra-curricular teaching platform - Spark Studio. She has been a senior Drama faculty member at Hill Spring International School in Mumbai for over ten years, & has choreographed and directed over thirty theatre productions for schools in Mumbai.

Having taught various subjects during her teaching career, she believes that children learn best through stories & drama. Through her unique methodology, by incorporating elements of theatre, art, music and movement, she engages all kinds of learners through differentiated learning strategies and encourages the children to explore their imagination. Thus, paving the way for them to become empathetic, open-minded thinkers and problem solvers.

Besides teaching, she has been an active member of theatre productions in various facets - as a performer, costume designer, light, sound & production management, and has participated in theatre festivals in India and around the world.
