Small Fruit & Vegetable Production
UGA Extension DeKalb County is offering the Journeyman Farmers Certificate Program, which is for those interested in starting a farm business or those who have recently begun farming and want to improve their operation. USDA defines a beginning farmer as anyone who has been farming less than ten years continuously. It consists of two parts: the Small Farm Business Planning and the Small Fruit and Vegetable Production section. The second part is the Small Fruit & Vegetable Production that covers a multitude of subjects relating to crop production. The program was developed in partnership with Georgia Organics and the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association. The presentations will be given by UGA Specialists with accompanying textbook and other materials.

- Cover Crops
- Crop Rotations
- Pest Management
- Crop Selection
- Crop Propagation
- Equipment
- Post-harvest Handling
- Food Safety
- Marketing
DATES: Mondays February 5 - April 22, 2024
TIMES: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
LOCATION: University of Georgia DeKalb County Extension Building located at 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, GA 30032
COST: $85 per person which includes all materials. $65 if participants has taken the AgAware Workshop within the last 3 years. Must send proof of attendance to CJ Holliday by February 2, 2024 to avoid being unenrolled from the program.
