Small Business Empowerment Day

Join the City of San José’s Office of Economic Development for another of its popular in-person events that bring local business owners together to foster connections, provide valuable resources, and enhance the skills of small business owners.

Small Business Empowerment Day, taking place Monday, May 20, 2024, 10 a.m – 2 p.m. at the San José City Hall Rotunda, will include networking opportunities with fellow entrepreneurs and City staff, insightful workshops, and a keynote from California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, who will share how California is helping to invest in local communities and small businesses.

Workshops include:

• Navigating the Loan Process: How to Improve Your Approval Odds: Are you seeking funding to grow your business but unsure where to start? In this workshop, we'll demystify the loan process, offering tips and strategies to increase your chances of approval. Whether you're a startup or an established business, learn how to navigate the complexities of securing financing with confidence.
  
• Office Hours: Small Business Ally Manager: Got questions about permits, inspections, or business licenses? Our Small Business Ally Manager is here to help. Take advantage of this opportunity to get personalized guidance and expert advice on regulatory matters. From understanding compliance requirements to streamlining administrative processes, gain clarity and support for your business endeavors.
  
• How to Use Marketing Tools (Yelp, Facebook, Photography) to Advertise Your Business: Effective marketing can significantly impact the success of your business. In this workshop, discover how to harness the power of popular marketing tools such as Yelp and Facebook to promote your brand effectively. Learn practical tips for leveraging photography to create compelling visual content that resonates with your target audience. Whether you're a novice or experienced marketer, unlock the secrets to enhancing your online presence and attracting more customers.
