About this Event
On 15th August 1947, India became a sovereign and democratic nation. To celebrate his native country's 77th annual Independence, DJ Prashant is teaming up with Portland Parks & Recreation to present:
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
We will be showing the “airplane edited” version, which is rated PG-13.
This event is FREE for all ages, everybody of every culture & nationality is encouraged to attend.

Pre-movie entertainment (starting 7pm) will be provided by DJ Prashant & Jai Ho! Dance Troupe.

Bring blankets or low-back chairs to sit on. Pack a picnic or try some of the tasty dishes from our onsite vendors. Individuals may enter and exit the site and enjoy events from a paved pathway.
Movie synopsis:
As 18-year-old Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) answers questions on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," flashbacks show how he got there. Part of a stable of young thieves after their mother dies, Jamal and his brother, Salim, survive on the streets of Mumbai. Salim finds the life of crime agreeable, but Jamal scrapes by with small jobs until landing a spot on the game show.
