SLRC Seminars #2 - How Black Britain Became Middle Class with Symeon Brown
About this Event
Join us for a conversation with journalist and author Symeon Brown. Symeon will present his latest book The Good, The Black and the Boujee: How Black Britain Became Middle-Class (Dialogue Books, 2026).
A community activist, archivist and journalist, Symeon has built a reputation as an investigative reporter and critical commentor. His first book Get Rich or Lie Trying: Ambition and Deceit in the New Influencer Economy (Atlantic Books, 2022) was described by The New Statesman as "the first serious attempt to expose the hidden darker side of the economy of influencing." Building on his career-long commitment to represent and explore Black identity in Britain,The Good, The Black and the Boujee explores the shifting perception of social class among Black Britons through an impressive number of direct witnesses gathered from community members.
Join Symeon and Senior SLRC Legacy in Action Research Fellow Dr. Fatima Rajina in a thought-proviking conversation on Symeon's work.
