Slow stitch workshop - Fiber Art Landscape

Looking for a peaceful escape? Join us for an afternoon of mindful creativity where the goal is to slow down and craft something truly beautiful. Whether you are a seasoned textile artist or have never picked up a needle, this workshop offers a welcoming space to relax and explore your artistic side.

Grab a friend and spend a few hours immersed in the tactile world of fabric and thread. We provide the atmosphere and the tools; you provide the inspiration!

In this hands-on session, we will guide you through the process of building a unique stitched fabric collage panel. You’ll experiment with:

• Color & Texture: How to layer fabrics for depth and visual interest.
• Material Manipulation: Transforming scraps into artful compositions.
• Embroidery Techniques: A blend of traditional precision and expressive free-style hand stitching.

• Boro-Inspired Stitching: The Japanese art of functional and decorative mending.
• French Knots: Adding dimensional, beaded textures to your work.
• Couching Stitches: A versatile technique for securing decorative threads or yarns to your fabric.

By the end of the session, your unique hand-stitched panel will be framed.

Location: FAVO Art Village Studio 238

To reach the studio, turn north on Highland Avenue from Colonial Drive, and enter the parking lot (second driveway on the left). There is a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church, FAVO Art Studios". When you enter the parking lot turn right and then left at the rear of the lot, continue through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. FAVO building is the L-shaped two story building. Class is upstairs at studio 238.
