A fantastic line-up to get us into the Autumn spirit - and, if you've never been to a MIM gig before (why not?), this could be a fairly accessible introduction. By our standards, anyway.
Slow Slow Loris are an experimental/avant-garde industrial drone duo based between Berlin and the US. Industrial noise, visceral vocals and intricate electronics swell into epic, cinematic and surprisingly delicate soundscapes - exploring the space where melody meets noise, emotion meets the avant-garde, and the feminine meets the industrial.
They've released albums on Cloister Recordings, Zaetraom and Staaltape, and toured extensively across Europe, Russia and the USA.
Sieben is the solo project of violinist and singer Matt Howden, who describes his live setup as a "one-man rawchestra". Using a loop station, he builds hypnotic layers of violin and vocals in real time - bowing, plucking, strumming and generally abusing the instrument into submission.
His music ranges from neo-folk and dark folk to post-folk, incorporating tribal rhythms, Celtic and Eastern European influences and electronics. With more than a dozen albums on his own Redroom Records label and over 1,500 shows across 35 countries, he's had plenty of practice at this sort of thing.
