On April 29, 1927, at 6:00 p.m. whistles shrieked from Bellingham Bay, fire engine sirens rang into the night, and streetcars carrying passengers to the theatre clanged their bells. The doors to the Mount Baker Theatre opened at 6:30 p.m. letting in the crowds of people who were lined up around the block. One hundred years ago, the theatre’s first patrons walked through the doors to enjoy a screening of Slide, Kelly, Slide. Join MBT in celebrating the theatre’s 100th birthday and watch the very same iconic American comedy. The silent movie will be paired with expert live accompaniment by the great Dennis James on MBT’s Wurlitzer Pipe Organ.
