Lo-fi singer-songwriter Lael Neale’s latest album for Sub Pop, Star Eaters Delight, is inspired by Shakespeare, rom-coms, and the grit of Los Angeles. Its eclectic mix of droning synth, timeless vocals, and unpredictable accompaniment puts the breakthrough artist somewhere between the heyday of Laurel Canyon and the ‘60s and ‘80s scenes of downtown New York.
