About this Event
The Insight Project will host a roundtable discussion regarding the legacy and present-day implications of female oppression and inequities. The interactive conversation will provide a global and historical perspective from sociological, economic and political points of view. In addition, speakers will dive deeply into the personal and structural forms of oppression experienced by women in Europe, and particularly in Luxembourg, including sexual trafficking, forced prostitution, and the rise of women experiencing homelessness and domestic violence. The conference will also highlight emerging and innovative solutions underway with support from the Luxembourg government and nonprofit community, and various partner organizations will be invited to promote and participate in the conference. The conference goals are to combat isolation and silence, while inspiring community, advocacy and collective action.
The discussion will begin with a reading by best-selling author Chika Unigwe who has researched and written extensively about the Nigerian diaspora in Europe and issues of racial and national identity centered on strong female characters.
