Dear SLAPSHOT CUP Hockey Tournament Team Candidate,
We are excited to announce the 2023 Slapshot Cup Johnstown will be held in back-to-back weekends.
Weekend #1 October 27, 28, 29 and Weekend #2 Nov 3, 4, 5, 2023.We are inviting you to get your team
together and join us for what will be the best tournament yet!
This year marks the 14th Anniversary for the tournament. The past 13 years have seen the participation
of 338 teams and over 4,100 players including appearances from many former Johnstown Chiefs, NHL
players, such as former NHL All-Star, Jude Drouin and former Detroit Red Wing, Dave Gagnon, Toronto
Maple Leaf, Christian Hanson, and several former NHL draft picks, former professionals, and NCAA
College stars. We’ve had appearances by the Hanson Brothers, where both Steve Carlson and Dave
Hanson have been on hand to sign autographs, take pictures and hang out as well as 2009 Stanley Cup
Champion, Tyler Kennedy. Every year has been an exciting and fun-filled weekend where many
memories have been made.
The tournament will allow for 3 guaranteed games and a possible 4th championship game: Ice Cold Beer
provided after every game ∙ Music and Public Address Announcer for all games ∙ Scores, Standings, and
Stats posted after each game ∙The Sal Rutigliano MVP Award and the All-Tournament Team Selections ∙
Extensive Welcome Package which includes a Tournament Souvenir Program, coupons, goodies, and

*WAIVER: In consideration of the privilege of using 1 st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial ,
The Cambria County War Memorial Arena Authority, SMG, North Central Recreation Center and
understanding there are inherent risks in connection with this activity, I and my entire team roster
hereby assume these risks for myself and individuals skating on the dates and times noted in this
agreement. I and my team waive any possible claim that may rise against Josh Piro, SLAPSHOT CUP
Hockey Tournament, and its volunteers, Cambria County, The Cambria County War Memorial Arena
Authority, SMG, and its employees for any such damages and or
injuries sustained in the course of the activity and I along with my team agree to indemnify and hold
harmless and not to assert a claim or sue Josh Piro, SLAPSHOT CUP Hockey Tournament, its volunteers,
Cambria County, The Cambria County War Memorial Arena Authority, SMG, North Central Recreation
Center and its employees for any such damages or injuries or for any and all claims which may arise in
connection with my own and teams use of facilities or travel to and from these facilities. - All players are
encouraged to be registered with USA Hockey. No refunds. No Exceptions.
ALL PLAYERS MUST BE OF THE CORRECT AGE IN WHICH DIVISION THEY ARE PLAYING. ANY PLAYER IN QUESTION
MUST BE APPROVED BY JOSH OR DAVE PRIOR TO THE TOURNAMENT. NO PLAYERS CAN BE ADDED AFTER CHECK
IN. EXTRA PLAYERS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE PLAYING EVERY GAME MUST BE ADDED TO THE ROSTER UPON
CHECK IN (APPROVAL). NO PLAYER IS ALLOWED TO PLAY IF THEIR NAME IS NOT ON THE ROSTER AT CHECK IN OR
APPROVED BY JOSH OR DAVE.
ANY TEAM CAUGHT WITH A PLAYER NOT ROSTERED/APPROVED OR UNDERAGE THAT PLAYS WILL BE FORCED TO
FORFEIT THE GAMES THE PLAYER PLAYED IN. AT CHECK-IN PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SHOW PROOF OF ID.
SLAPSHOT CUP Hockey Tournament Important Dates, Numbers, and Information
Weekend 1 is Oct 27, 28, 29 and Weekend 2 is Nov 3, 4, 5. To secure your team in the tournament send
in the Registration Form accompanied with a deposit of $500.00 USD. Tournament Team Entries will be
on a first come, first serve basis and teams that have deposited and paid in full by October 1st, 2023 will
be able to participate. Teams failing to pay in full by this date may be denied entry. (First 40 teams)
Hotels Rooms are blocked off for Tournament Participants. Say you are with Slapshot Cup. Participating
hotels are: Holiday Inn (Downtown Johnstown), Econo Lodge (Downtown Johnstown), Comfort/Sleep

NEW FEATURE
The first team registered and paid in full and who pays an additional $300 will have first choice to make
their own 3 game schedule (see below). The second team to register and pay in full and who pays an
additional $200 will get second choice in making their own 3 game schedule. And same for the third
team to register and pay in full and pay an additional $100 will get the third choice in making their own
3 game schedule. Championship Games do not apply
