About this Event

Join us on NOVEMBER 6TH for an IN PERSON poetry open mic at Guilder Coffee inside of the downtown Powell's Books!

Sign-ups now start are at 6:00 PM, and the show will begin at 6:30 PM.

This show is just a poetry open mic with a feature. If you wish to attend a poetry slam, please come out to our third Thursday show (at Literary Arts)!

Poets get 3 minutes on the mic to share one poem, or two *very* short poems. If sign ups are light, an announcment at the start of the show will be made that poets may have more time to read.

Just poetry on the mic - no music or stand up, please!

This show is all ages.

This show is free to attend, but we will be taking donations to pay our featured poet. Suggested donation is $5.

Guilder Coffee
1035 W Burnside St.
Portland, OR 97209

Here are some important COVID-related things to note:
-- While not mandatory, masks are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED
-- COVID is still a very real thing, please be smart and safe and, if you are feeling ill the day before/of, please stay home and do not come to this event

We will have a feature from Abby Hosterman!

Abby Hosterman is a parent, poet, and corporate burnout turned accidental poultry mother. Originally from rural Pennsylvania and now thriving in Denver, she is the author of two chapbooks (What Ails You and Mom Shit) and the recently published Burnout Diary (Game Over Books, 2025). Reviewers call Burnout Diary “a defiant challenge of what it means to be a mother and daughter” and “a fantastic debut” that is equal parts humor, heartbreak, and radical permission to rest.
A two-time Write Bloody Jack McCarthy Book Prize finalist, Abby’s work has appeared in The Rumpus, Chaotic Merge, Lucky Jefferson, the Adams County Poet Laureate Anthology For Those Who Dream By Day, and more. She’s the founder of Good Looks Asynchronous Editing Space and has performed at poetry events across the country from San Diego to Kansas City and back to Portland.
When she’s not writing, Abby runs Fluff & Riot Treats and juggles two kids, four dogs, nine chickens, two ducks, and one endlessly patient dreamboat husband. She believes deeply in the power of community, teenagers, live music, and voting with your dollar.
