MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam continues its popular open mic poetry series at Stark Brewing Company. This week, we will start with the weekly open mic at 8pm and follow it with a competitive slam!! There is a $5 cover and this is an all-ages show. About the Qualifier Slam:
Want to be on a nationally traveling poetry slam team? Pay attention!
IMPORTANT: slam signups will not be going out until AFTER 7:30. If you are planning on participating in any poetry performance on this night, we kindly ask that you pick ONE list to be on. Thank you!!
This will be a slam with two full rounds, followed by a two-person final round where the top two poets both advance to the Qualifier Finals in December. Competing poets should come with THREE prepared pieces, with all of them being 3 minutes or under. Traditional slam rules apply; no props or musical accompaniment of any kind is allowed. Any poem going over 3:10 loses 0.5 points for every 10 seconds over the time limit. This is qualifier 2 of 5, and there will be a 10-person finals later on in the year to field a 5-person team to represent Slam Free in national competitions!!
Accessibility Information:
The entrance to our show is at the back of the building with no stairs to enter the space. There is a ramp through the main bar for access to the ADA compliant bathrooms. For any other accessibility questions message our page or ask a staff member at the show.

Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm. Featured poets and slams follows the open mic. Come and enjoy the delicious food and beverages at Stark Brewing Company! There is a $5 cover charge. This is an all-ages show in a private function room. For more information: e-mail [email protected]. Stark Brewing Company is located next to Arms Park at 500 N. Commercial Street in Manchester, NH. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of the building (facing the river) and you can feel free to use the entrance on that side.
