The Slackers' rise to fame is a story of perseverance and a belief in their musical vision, combining Jamaican ska and reggae with American rock n’ roll. While influenced (and even personally taught) by Jamaican ska/reggae originators such as the Skatalites and the Upsetters, the band sees its music as wholly American. Smashing the stereotypes of ska, The Slackers put a new spin on the genre by playing with an aggressive edge that interweaves personal and political accounts.
The Bandulus are the brainchild of Austin, TX musician Jeremy Peña, formerly of Los Skarnales and the Trenchtown Texans. A traditional ska, reggae, and soul sensation, The Bandulus cross genres and keep listeners on their toes while crossing genres, but always with a heavy soul influence and heartfelt lyrics. Their sound evolved to include early rock n’ roll, Motown-style harmonies, and psychedelic grooves. The Bandulus have shared the stage with yesterdays and today’s top ska and reggae acts, including ska originators The Skatalites, The Interrupters, Inner Circle, The Wailers, The Slackers, Easy Star All Stars, The English Beat, The Aggrolites, Collie Budz, The Skints, Save Ferris, New Kingston, The Suffers, Western Standard Time, Bedouin Soundclash, The Pietasters and Los Lonely Boys. Jamaican patois for bandit, The Bandulus will steal your heart and always leave you smiling.
Los De Esta Noche is a Latin roots rock band from San Antonio, Texas. Their sound is comprised of Rock, Ska, Cumbia, and Conjunto music. Influenced by the sound and culture of the Mexico border, they blend horns and percussion along with Spanish and English lyrics to make music that will make you move and dance.
Hailing from San Antonio and Dallas, Kung Fu Sound System is a trio of Texas Selectors spinning soul, funk, reggae, and ska vinyl.
