Join us for an afternoon of ceramic skull painting in honor of Dia des los Muertos. Mexican printmaker José Guadalupe Posada created the calavera imagery that is so closely associated with Día de los Muertos today. Posada was inspired by the skeleton imagery he saw at holiday celebrations, which was a remnant of indigenous traditions. The bright colors of calaveras are meant to commemorate the lives of deceased ancestors. Different colors have different meanings, such as red for blood, orange for the sun, yellow for marigolds, purple for pain, black for the Land of the Dead, and pink for hope, purity, and celebration.Cost for materials is $30. Limited seating
