Je tu nová kapela a jmenuje se Phenomenal World !
Po letech setkávání na experimentální hudební scéně se Michael Fischer (zpěv a dechové nástroje), Didi Kern (bicí) a Philipp Quehenberger (klávesy) konečně spojili, aby nahráli své první album. Výsledkem je syrové, dynamické zkoumání zvuku, kde složitá rytmická hra tančí s měnícími se pojmy času a prostoru a melodie se vznášejí mezi něžností a vzdorem, objevují se v jemných variacích a bez námahy stírají hranici mezi chaosem a soudržností. Phenomenal World přináší viscerální zvukovou cestu, kde se punková energie střetává s hloubkou a nepředvídatelností volné improvizace.
Michael Fischer
Michael Fischer pracuje na řečové imanenci zvuků a jejich sochařském a dramatickém projevu v oblasti radikálně volné improvizované / experimentální hudby. V roce 1999 začal do své práce integrovat akustický fenomén zpětné vazby a vyvinul zcela analogový nástroj bez efektů, saxofon se zpětnou vazbou, který byl dále vyvíjen v ZKM – Centru pro umění a média v Karlsruhe nebo STEIM Amsterdam. Je zakladatelem řady ansámblů, včetně dlouhodobých projektů BAGG*FISH a M. A. D.; v roce 2004 založil Vienna Improvisers Orchestra, který vystupoval na festivalech jako Moers Festival (Německo), Wien Modern a Vienna Art Week. Jako dirigent improvizované hudby spolupracuje s četnými improvizačními orchestry a dočasnými velkými ansámbly pro mezinárodní festivaly, univerzity a další instituce. Od poloviny 90. let spolupracuje s mezinárodní scénou volné improvizované hudby a s autory experimentální poezie; koncertoval a vystupoval na festivalech po celé Evropě, Kanadě, USA a Japonsku. V poslední době vytvořil performativní světelné instalace, jako jsou NEON (například na Donaufestivalu Krems, Künstlerhaus Wien) a ColorRaySaxophone (V.esch). Byl hostujícím lektorem na institucích jako Peabody Institute – Johns Hopkins University (USA), University of California Irvine, Newcastle University (Velká Británie), Music Academy – University of Montenegro, Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts Brno, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna a University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Dieter Kern je známý nejen jako precizní a všestranný bubeník rakouských kapel Bulbul a Fuckhead, ale také si získal reputaci na improvizační a free jazzové scéně díky spolupráci s renomovanými umělci, jako jsou Linda Sharrock, Saadet Türköz, Marshall Allen, Joe McPhee a Mayo Thompson. V současné době je považován za jednoho z nejžádanějších bubeníků na vídeňské scéně. Didi se etabloval jako vynalézavý, energický improvizátor se silným smyslem pro humor. Žije a pracuje ve Vídni.
Philipp Quehenberger je rakouský klávesista, skladatel a producent. Mísí žánry jako techno, ambient a experimentální hudbu, aby vytvořil jedinečné hudební zážitky. Je známý zejména svou více než 20letou spoluprací s bubeníkem Didim Kernem a vydal desky u renomovaných labelů jako Cheap a Editions Mego. Díky svým zvukovým experimentům se stal významnou postavou současné rakouské hudební scény.
PLUTON FORGOT BALL
Dalším novým uskupením tohoto večera je duo Jana Michálka a Mélusine de Pas. Tito dva improvizátoři se začali scházet a hrát na začátku tohoto roku a koncert v Punctu bude jedním z jejich prvních veřejných vystoupení.
Mélusine de Pas je špičková francouzská hráčka na violu da gamba působící v Praze. Studovala starou hudbu v Marseille a Paříži. V posledních letech se však intenzivně věnuje také experimentální a improvizované hudbě.
Ke staré hudbě se Mélusine de Pas poprvé dostala v souboru Pages de la maîtrise de Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles pod vedením Oliviera Schneebeliho. Ve svém pěveckém vzdělávání pokračovala u Nicole Cortiové a Lionela Sowa ve sboru katedrály Notre Dame de Paris a později zpívala také pod taktovkou Hervého Niqueta, Bruna Boterfa a Johna Nelsona. Důležitým mezníkem v hudební formaci jí byl nakonec Choeur grégorien de Paris.
Violu da gamba objevila Mélusine de Pas u Philippa Foulona. Na ConservatoireNational Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris studovala u Nimy Ben David a Christopha Coina a na Koninklijk Conservatorium v Bruselu u Philippa Pierlota. Mezi soubory, s nimiž vystupuje na koncertech nebo nahrávkách, patří Collegium Marianum, Ensemble Inégal, Collegium 1704, Le Ricercar Consort, Czech Ensemble Baroque či Cappella Mariana. Se saxofonistou Vincentem Lê Quangem experimentovala na pařížské konzervatoři s volnou improvizací. Tato zkušenost ji dovedla k instrumentální i pěvecké spolupráci s umělci, jako je skladatel Jan Trojan, trombonista Jan Jirucha a houslistka Anna Romanovská Fliegerová, a to v rámci alternativních ředstaveních zahrnujících divadlo, elektronickou hudbu a němý film.
Jan Michálek je saxofonista, houslista a hráč na syntezátory. Na tuzemské scéně můžete znát Jana ze septetu Uthando, které vydalo dvě desky u labelu Ma Records. V současné době jsou jeho aktivními projekty elektroakustické duo HONCO s perkusistou Marcem Aleixo, zabývající se interakcí s fyzickým prostorem, amplifikací a efektováním akustických nástrojů. Dále pohybově zvukové duo Meadow Frogs, které už má za sebou úspěšné rezidence a performance ve Španělsku a Portugalsku anebo pražské duo Ovčí Hájek s Janem Karhánkem za syntezátory.

After years of crossing paths in the experimental music scene, Michael Fischer (vocals and reeds), Didi Kern (drums), and Philipp Quehenberger (keyboard) have finally come together to record their first album. The result is a raw, dynamic exploration of sound —where intricate rhythmic play dances with shifting notions of time and space and melodies drift between tenderness and defiance, reappearing in subtle variations - blurring the line between chaos and coherence with effortless fluidity.
Phenomenal World delivers a visceral sonic journey—where punk energy collides with the depth and unpredictability of free improvisation.
Michael Fischer
Michael Fischer works on the speech immanence of sounds and their sculptural and dramatic evidence in the field of radically free improvised / experimental music. In 1999, he began integrating the acoustic phenomenon of feedback into his work and developed an entirely analog, effect-free instrument, the feedback saxophone, which was further developed at ZKM – Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe or STEIM Amsterdam. He is the founder of numerous ensembles, including long-standing projects BAGG*FISH and M. A. D.; in 2004, he launched the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra, which has performed at festivals such as Moers Festival (Germany), Wien Modern, and Vienna Art Week. As an instant composition conductor, he works with numerous improvisation orchestras and temporary large ensembles for international festivals, universities, and other institutions. Since the mid-1990s, he has collaborated with the international scene of free improvised music and with writers of experimental poetry; he has toured and performed at festivals across Europe, Canada, the USA, and Japan. Recently, he has created performative light installations such as NEON (for example, at Donaufestival Krems, Künstlerhaus Wien) and ColorRaySaxophone (V.esch). He has been a guest lecturer at institutions such as Peabody Institute – Johns Hopkins University (USA), University of California Irvine, Newcastle University (UK), Music Academy – University of Montenegro, Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts Brno, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna, among others.
Dieter Kern is not only known as a precise and versatile drummer for the Austrian bands Bulbul and Fuckhead but has also earned a reputation in the improvised and free jazz scene by collaborating with renowned artists such as Linda Sharrock, Saadet Türköz, Marshall Allen, Joe McPhee and Mayo Thompson. He is now considered one of the busiest drummers in the Vienna scene. Didi has established himself as an inventive, energetic improviser with a strong sense of humor. He lives and works in Vienna.
Philipp Quehenberger is an Austrian keyboard player, composer, and producer. He blends genres such as techno, ambient, and experimental music to create unique musical experiences. Notably, he has had a 20+year collaboration with drummer Didi Kern, and has released records on renowned labels like Cheap and Editions Mego. His sonic explorations have made him a significant figure in the contemporary Austrian music landscape.
PLUTON FORGOT BALL
Another new group performing this evening is the duo of Jan Michálek and Mélusine de Pas. These two improvisers began meeting and playing together at the beginning of this year, and the concert at Punctum will be one of their first public performances.
Mélusine de Pas is a leading French viola da gamba player based in Prague. She studied early music in Marseille and Paris. In recent years, however, she has also been intensively involved in experimental and improvised music.
Mélusine de Pas first encountered early music in the Pages de la maîtrise de Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles ensemble under the direction of Olivier Schneebeli. She continued her vocal training with Nicole Corti and Lionel Sow in the choir of Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral and later sang under the baton of Hervé Nichet, Bruno Boterf, and John Nelson. An important milestone in her musical training was ultimately the Choeur grégorien de Paris.
Mélusine de Pas discovered the viola da gamba with Philippe Foulon. She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Nima Ben David and Christophe Coin and at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels with Philippe Pierlot. The ensembles with which she performs in concerts and recordings include Collegium Marianum, Ensemble Inégal, Collegium 1704, Le Ricercar Consort, Czech Ensemble Baroque, and Cappella Mariana. She experimented with free improvisation at the Paris Conservatoire with saxophonist Vincent Lê Quang. This experience led her to collaborate instrumentally and vocally with artists such as composer Jan Trojan, trombonist Jan Jirucha, and violinist Anna Romanovská Fliegerová in alternative performances involving theater, electronic music, and silent film.
Jan Michálek is a saxophonist, violinist, and synthesizer player. On the domestic scene, you may know Jan from the septet Uthando, which has released two albums on the Ma Records label. His current active projects include the electroacoustic duo HONCO with percussionist Marc Aleixo, which focuses on interaction with physical space, amplification, and effects on acoustic instruments. He is also a member of the movement-sound duo Meadow Frogs, which has already had successful residencies and performances in Spain and Portugal, and the Prague duo Ovčí Hájek with Jan Karhánek on synthesizers.
Hanousek-Aardestrup-Jorgens
This trio was put together in early 2024 by bassist Jonathan Aardestrup who had found a great connection with both the other players.
Since Peter Ole and Jonathan already had joined forces as a duo and facilitated meetings with international guests in Denmark and internationally, in February they invited the Czech saxophonist Radim Hanousek and that was a magical music meeting. The 3 had an instant connection and played 4 concerts for much pleased audiences around Denmark. In October the trio had a small tour in Czech and Austria with similar reactions.
