Skream & Benga
October 31, 2025 - Sydney - City Recital Hall

Before the genre even had a name, Skream and Benga were instrumental in laying the foundations for dubstep - a sound that emerged out of South London in the early 2000s. Hailing from Croydon, the key hub in dubstep’s formation, the pair came up through the legendary Big Apple Records shop and label - a crucial incubator run by DJ Hatcha, a tastemaker who mentored both artists and championed their unreleased dubplates on pirate radio.
Their early tracks stood out for their deep sub-bass, skittering rhythms, and raw energy - a stark departure from the sounds of UK garage and drum & bass at the time. Alongside Digital Mystikz (Mala & Coki) and Loefah, Skream and Benga formed the core of dubstep’s first wave - a movement that would go on to reshape dance music across the globe.
Skream - ever-evolving - has moved between genres with ease and precision. His "Open to Close" sets have become the stuff of legend: longform, unpredictable, and packed wall-to-wall with punters who trust the journey. A true selector, he remains rooted in sound system culture while constantly scanning the horizon.
Benga brought raw instinct to the table - a sonic disruptor who carved out space for bold, fearless bass music. His debut 12” Skank/Dose dropped when he was just 15, and his 2008 album Diary of an Afro Warrior became a defining moment for the scene on the cusp of international recognition. Together with Skream, he pushed boundaries and helped rewrite the rules of UK electronic music.
After a decade apart, the duo has officially announced their return to studio work and live performances. Their first new single in over ten years, "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait," landed in June 2025 - marking the beginning of a new chapter for two artists who never stopped evolving.
Now, for one night only in Sydney, Skream and Benga reunite behind the decks. Expect low-end pressure, dubwise selections, and nods to jungle, garage, and everything in between - a tribute to the legacy they built and the future they’re still shaping.
18+ event. All tickets general admission.
