Start your career in the Bristol Tech Scene with this free Skills Bootcamp in Software Development fully-funded by the UK Government.


Learn the fundamentals of software development, specialise in Front-End development, and land your first job as a Software Developer in the South West.


This is a 16-week, flexible, part-time programme, delivered in a hybrid format in Bristol City Centre. During this programme you will complete a live project set by a Tech employer and develop the skills required to apply directly for software development roles within this fast-growing and vibrant sector. You will be supported through a personal development plan to help you to maximise your opportunities to gain employment after completing the Skills Bootcamp.


You will be guaranteed an interview for a live vacancy in Bristol City Centre upon completion of the programme. You will also achieve a formal qualification in Software Development, build a Development Portfolio, and receive personalised support to develop your CV and employability skills.



Entry Requirements

This is an entry-level Digital Skills & Employability Programme for people without a background in software development and technology. There are no specific entry requirements for applying to the Skills Bootcamp in Software Development. If you already have experience in software development you should consider applying to our Skills Bootcamp in Software Engineering.


Applicants may typically be:

  • Graduates with a degree in a non-technology subject
  • Career changers transferring from a non-technology sector
  • People with creative design backgrounds wanting to develop technical skills
  • Freelancers and Self-employed people
  • School leavers (if aged 19 or above)

Applications will be assessed on a competitive basis against our “AAA” Criteria: Attitude, Aptitude and Ambition.

Progression

You will be guaranteed an interview for a live vacancy in the Bristol area upon completion of this Skills Bootcamp. You can also progress onto a Higher Apprenticeship or Degree Apprenticeship in Software Development once in employment or self-employment.

  • Level 4 Software Developer Higher Apprenticeship
  • Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship (Software Engineering Professional)

You could also undertake an approved Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) such as a Foundation Degree in Software Development or a Higher National Diploma in Applied Computing with Exeter College.


Eligibility

This programme is fully-funded by the UK Government for eligible participants.


To be eligible for funding, you must:


  • have right to live and work in the UK; and
  • have been resident in the UK for at least three years; and
  • be a current resident in England; and
  • be aged at least 19 years or older upon 31st August 2023.
  • Refugees and Asylum Seekers may be eligible if they have been in the UK for more than 6 months. People currently residing in the UK on a Student Visa are unfortunately not eligible for funding.


You will need to provide evidence of your identity, address, and Right to Work. Your eligibility will be assessed in accordance with the Adult Education Budget Funding Guidelines published on the UK Government Website.

Application Process

Once we receive your initial expression of interest through Eventbrite, a member of the team will call you within 2 working days to assess your eligibility and support you to complete a full application to secure your space on the programme.

You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility so that it can be verified UK Government. The application process can take 3-5 days so long as you provide the correct evidence on time.
