Skilled Trades Parent Information Night

Are you worried about your child's future career path, the rising cost of post-secondary education, or whether they will find secure employment after graduation? Join us for an eye-opening evening to discover why the skilled trades are no longer a "fallback" plan, but a premium career choice for today’s fast-paced world. The evening will begin with an informative presentation from 6:00pm. to 7:00pm, where families will learn how the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) can help students graduate debt-free and earn a six-figure salary in their twenties.

Did you know the OCSB pays for high school students to begin their post-secondary education in the trades? During this initial presentation, you’ll discover how OYAP allows students to earn high school credits while learning a skilled trade and earning income at the same time. For example, we currently have Grade 12 OYAP students earning up to $54,000 a year!

Following the presentations, parents will have exclusive access to the Skills Ontario Skilled Trades Trailer from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. This massive, state-of-the-art mobile classroom travels across the province to provide hands-on, interactive experiences with the skilled trades. Step inside to try out heavy equipment simulators, welding simulations, and other interactive modules. Local industry partners like TPH Plumbing, Carpenters Union Local 93, and the Elite Skilled Trades Academy will also be on-site to answer your questions.
