Have you often wished for a sketch book made with the paper you love? Join Jan Boyd in creating a sewn sketchbook from 90# hot pressed watercolor paper. Over 2 class gatherings Jan will also introduce a variety of techniques and ideas to add to your watercolor sketches including embossing, ruling pen borders, use of gold, pastels and some modern lettering. The basic bookbinding technique can be used to create more books in a variety of sizes and papers after the class. As an option (and not necessary for class), Jan will provide calligraphy supplies for the lettering portion of this workship (included in class fee). If artists are interested, Jan will also have gold leaf for purchase in class at $5 per sheet.
Suitable for artists of all abilities.
Instructed by Jan Boyd
Jan Boyd has been a professional Calligrapher for many years and began her focused study of botanical art in 2016. She is a graduate of the Certificate in Botanical Art & Illustration Program at Wellesley College Botanic Gardens and has exhibited her work in that program as well as in several New England Society of Botanical Artists shows. She continues to take classes in bookbinding, gilding, pastels, lettering and other techniques to add to her work.
