Sketch Writing w/ Katherene Garry | Sunday Morning

Do you want to do sketch comedy, but don't know where to start? Hey, this is that place!

Join Katherene Garry (Let Me Explain My Blackness, The Anarchy Fun Time Show, It's a Cultural Thang!) as she takes you through the process of forming rough and jagged ideas, and turning them into polished pieces of comedy over 6 weeks!

Classes take place Sundays from 11am-1pm, January 29th-March 19th, with a staged reading of selected work Thursday, March 23rd at 7:30pm. All at The Bird Comedy Theater in The Crossroads Arts District!

About the Teacher:

Katherene Garry was born in KCMO but raised in Kansas City, KS. After receiving her Associates Degree in Performing Arts, she moved to New York City and attended The American Academy for Dramatic Arts, The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, Upright Citizen Brigade and performed and toured overseas with The Nat Turner Revue. Since returning to Kansas City, Katherene has written for, performed in and directed multiple shows, including Let Me Explain My Blackness: Addressing Black Women's Thoughts Through Comedy (2019 KC Fringe Best Venue) The Anarchy Fun Time Show, Let Me Explain My Blackness: I Have More Things To Say, and It's a Cultural Thang.

The Bird Comedy Theater is Kansas City’s newest comedy club, located in the historic Hemingway Building in The Crossroads! Featuring improv, stand-up, sketch and more every weekend!
