You know what Sketch Comedy IS, right? It's Saturday Night Live, The Kids in the Hall, Mr. Show, MadTV, All That Key&Peele, and even The Muppet Show... it's making funny videos with friends!
In this Sketch Comedy Writing Class, you'll discover the art of creating hilarious and memorable sketches that leave audiences rolling in the aisles. Whether you're an aspiring comedian, a seasoned performer, or simply someone with a knack for humor, this class is designed to unlock your comedic potential and sharpen your writing skills.
Led by experienced comedy writers and Keep Tucson Sketchy performers, Allana Erickson-Lopez and Paige Carlson, this class will take you on a journey through the fundamentals of sketch comedy writing. From generating innovative ideas to crafting clever dialogue and developing memorable characters, you'll learn the techniques that make sketches shine. You'll explore various comedic styles and formats, satirical sketches, character-driven pieces, and more. Through constructive feedback and collaborative brainstorming, you'll refine your sketches and learn how to maximize their comedic impact.

I kicked things off by driving The Comic Bookmobile right inside the Tucson Mall and making it the new window display of Catalyst’s Creative Collective. I’m going to transform Buster, The Comic Bookmobile by drawing all over the bus and so it becomes a moving mural of comic style line art.

The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance Artist-in-Residence program at CATALYST in the Tucson Mall provides flexible space for artists to create and demonstrate in an open studio environment with opportunities to engage the community through collaboration, workshops, and talks. The Artist-in-Residence will also serve as Catalyst ambassador, educating the public about SAACA and CATALYST Arts & Maker Space.
